Now that you have finished your degree, it is time to take the first step of your career and join our two-year graduate training programme. We are offering the opportunity for you develop knowledge, skills and experience which will enable you to have a successful career in engineering and construction.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our leading-edge Graduate programme for Sustainability Graduates. This role is for a person with passion for environmental sustainability in the built environment. This Sustainability Graduate will play an important role in supporting the Sustainability team in delivering exciting projects across the UK.
The role is suitable for somebody who has an interest in the Environment and engineering. The role will involve engaging with the construction teams on Environmental matters to help deliver complex projects whilst driving best practice and reducing risk. This will involve using a range of industry wide programmes and some bespoke applications; therefore, the candidate will need to be IT proficient as well as being eager to learn new systems and tasks. It is important they are organised, have excellent teamwork and communication skills.
You will be given the opportunity to work on different projects/ depots and gain an understanding of various aspects of civil engineering, plant operations & broadening your understanding and putting into practice what you have learnt during your time at university.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Understand the Company Environmental Policies, Processes and Procedures and statutory requirements as they affect the company’s operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented
- Assist in providing advice of the practical implementation of the company’s Environmental policies, processes, and procedures
- Assist the SHES Lead and Operational Management in the understanding and management of priorities, risks, and opportunities
- Assist with the development of SHES Management Plans (including Site Waste Management Plans, Biodiversity Management Plans) and coordination of their review
- Assist in providing operational and functional management with advice on the prevention of accidents and incidents
- Provide advice and guidance for obtaining legal consents, licences, and exemptions such as discharge consents, protected species and sites consents, ensuring that those which are required are obtained and conditions are met. Advise on key environmental legislation and provide practical guidance.
- Support site SHES teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the SHES Plans
- Assist the SHES team in carrying out regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures, and the relevant Statutory Provisions
- Work with the various Plant Stakeholders in preparing case studies on our sustainable assets
- Review and update the Green Plant Guide regularly
- Support Depot teams on sustainability and carbon options
- Data collection and management associated with Key Performance Indicators and assisting with monthly reporting of Environmental metrics.
- Provide reports, presentations, and information of data analysis
- Support delivery of Sustainability Business Objectives in Plant
- Develop and implement environmental sustainability awareness/educational campaigns and improvements in agreement with the SHES Manager
- Promote and capture environmental sustainability best practice and ensure it is fed-back into the business
- Assist in ensuring that the projects monitor and reduces Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions
- Liaise with the other members of the SHES team and the wider organisation with regards to SHES matters
- Carry out site inductions and other training as required
- Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relation to SHES, including appropriate qualifications and professional membership (IOSH, ISEP etc)

There is the opportunity for you to be based at any of our Plant depots in Ollerton, Hemel, or Golborne.

Entry Requirements
Studying toward either a Saftey or Enviroment related degree, or equivalent.
Additional Requirements
- You will need a full UK driving licence due to the locations of projects.
- Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable. Please note, we do not provide sponsorship.
