Murphy is recruiting for a Project Quality Lead to support major infrastructure projects across the United Utilities AMP8 programme.
This is a hands-on, project-facing role where you will work closely with delivery teams to drive Right First Time outcomes, improve quality performance and ensure compliance across live construction projects. We are seeking an experienced quality professional with a background in construction, infrastructure, utilities or related sectors who enjoys influencing project teams and delivering quality excellence from planning through to completion.
Murphy is a long-standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, including Thames Water, Severn Trent, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, SES Water, Bristol Water, South East Water, and Uisce Éireann, where we operate over 25 facilities under full DBOM contracts.
A day in the life of a Senior Quality Advisor
As the quality lead for your projects, you will work closely with delivery teams to embed a culture of Right First Time and drive quality performance from planning through to handover.
You will:
- Provide visible quality leadership across live projects, partnering with operational teams to drive quality performance, manage risk and deliver right first time outcomes.
- Carry out audits, inspections and quality reviews, ensuring compliance with project requirements, company standards and ISO 9001.
- Support the development and implementation of Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans and other key quality documentation.
- Lead the investigation and close-out of non-conformances, identifying root causes and driving effective corrective actions.
- Analyse quality performance and drive continuous improvement through coaching, influencing and developing project teams and supply chain partners.

- Significant experience in a quality role within construction, infrastructure, engineering or utilities.
- Proven experience supporting the delivery of construction or engineering projects.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
- Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification.
- CQI membership, with CQP MCQI status advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
