Murphy has a great opportunity for a Senior People Business Partner for a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave for 9 months, location is Newbridge, Ireland.
Reporting functionally to the Group People Director and operationally to the country Managing Director for Ireland, the interim lead will provide on the ground support to the Irish HR team.
A day in the life of a Senior People Business Partner at Murphy
- Partnering with the BU Senior leadership team and operational projects to ensure the people strategy is delivered.
- Working closely with Managing Director, Operational Directors and Functional leads to increase the capability within their teams
- Collaboratively work with the business wide People Leadership Team to continue to develop and implement innovative, timely and cost-effective best practice solutions that can be implemented across the function as a whole.
- Ensure there is consistency of people practices and their implementation across the Ireland BU, in line with the Murphy Values and the Group People Strategy.
- Analyse data and identify trends for action quickly.
- Be involved in Infrastructure Bid work and become a proactive member of bid teams.
- Manage and work with People Business Partners and People Business Advisors in order to enable a knowledgeable and swift response to all complex ER issues.
- Performance management – Champion high-performance culture and actively lead the up-skilling of all line managers so they can provide clear direction, continuous goal clarity, feedback, and development.
- Support the business unit and wider business to meet employee engagement targets as part of our Best Companies plans.
- Run an effective resource plan across Ireland projects to proactively deal with recruitment and internal mobility.
- Lead and drive forward the increase in technical training compliance.
- Responsible for the social value strategy of the BU, ensuring it aligns with the business overall and is managed / reported on correctly within the team.

- Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to Ireland project sites is essential.
- Must have previous experience at Senior HRBP level and comfortable with both hands on operational involvement as well as strategy delivery.
- Previous experience of managing a HR team.
- Experience in an organisation with a large weekly paid workforce.
- Proven ability to manage union relations.
