The Role
- Due to continuous growth within the company, Murphy Ireland are currently looking for Apprentice Pipefitter(s) to join and contribute towards some new and exciting projects.
- Please note that travel is required
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of high- and low-pressure piping systems.
- Support experienced pipefitters in measuring, cutting, prepping, threading, and assembly of pipe fabrications of varying sizes (from small-bore to large-diameter systems).
- Help install piping systems that carry liquids, gases, and other materials in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
- Participate in welding, fabrication, and fitting activities under supervision.
- Learn to interpret and follow engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and isometric diagrams.
- Use and maintain a range of hand tools, power tools, and specialised pipefitting equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist in testing, inspecting, and troubleshooting piping systems to identify faults or leaks.
- Support routine preventative maintenance activities to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Maintain a high level of Health and Safety which includes the proper use of PPE.
- Adhere to work instructions and procedures.
- Meet daily, weekly and monthly targets.
- Keep site and fabshop clean and safe to operate in.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must be eligible to register as a pipefitting apprentice with SOLAS
- The minimum educational requirements are:
- Grade D in five subjects in the Department of Education & Skills Junior Certificate Examination or an approved equivalent, or 2.
- The successful completion of an approved Pre-Apprenticeship course or 3.
- Three years’ work experience gained over sixteen years of age in a relevant designated industrial activity as SOLAS shall deem acceptable.
- The minimum educational requirements are:
- Safe Pass, Manual Handling and Abrasive Wheels
- Leaving Certificate with O6 – O1 in Maths (desirable but not required). Physics and technical drawing is beneficial
- Previous construction experience is beneficial
- Any additional tickets/training is beneficial
- Full Driving Licence is required
- Understanding Health and Safety compliance

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, weekend work if required
- Work Location: In person both in Newbridge or on site as required by line manager
