Murphy is recruiting for a Work Winning Lead to work with our Energy and Industry team in Dublin or Newry.

Our Work Winning Engineering Lead will provide senior technical leadership to the Work Winning and Pre‑Construction team across Energy and Industry projects, ensuring high‑quality, compliant and competitive tenders and robust project input through handover. The role will integrate design input, construction methodology, risk and opportunity management to improve win rates and assure safe, efficient delivery.

 

 

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the engineering strategy for bids: define technical approach, construction methodology, programme sequence, and temporary works strategy.
  • Own the technical compliance matrix, produce method statements, technical submissions, and delivery stage plans (e.g., constructability reviews, sequencing, access and logistics).
  • Challenge solutions to optimise safety, quality, sustainability, and whole‑life cost
  • Drive value engineering.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities
  • Engineering inputs to cost and programme
  • Lead technical presentations and site visits
  • Ensure bids meet relevant standards, codes and regulatory requirements
  • Assist design development post‑award through a structured technical handover to delivery teams; support mobilisation and early works as required.
  • Promote digital engineering and information management and accurate document control throughout the bid lifecycle.
  • Coach and develop engineers within the work winning function; share lessons learned and maintain a library of best‑practice method statements and case studies.

 

Who we are looking for:

  • Minimum 10 years’ site/project experience in civil engineering and/or power sector delivery, including significant time in construction on live projects.
  • Proven pre‑construction/tendering experience for major projects
  • Track record of developing construction methodologies, build‑ability reviews, temporary works strategies, and technical submissions that win work.
  • Strong grasp of contracts and procurement in the sector (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and of estimating/programming interfaces (P6/MS Project, CESMM/BoQ).
  • Excellent knowledge of Ireland standards, design codes and safety by design (CDM) principles; able to author technical and HSEQ documentation.
