Job Title:  Metal Fabricator Apprentice

Main Purpose of Role:

Murphy are hiring an apprentice metal fabricator to work in our head office in Newbridge Co. Kildare. Our Apprenticeship Programme is full time for 4 years with a combination of workshop & classroom with SOLAS. With this four-year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified metal fabricator, with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Contractor. The successful candidate will join the Murphy Apprenticeship Programme. Role Duties:

  • To undertake assigned activities under the direction of the Supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Be enthusiastic & committed to the team’s purpose and share responsibility for performance.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the appropriate levels of safety, quality & cost.
  • Producing the deliverables/products to agreed specifications.
  • To take care of any safety equipment / tools provided and ensure they are used correctly.
  • Work as part of a team & contribute towards successful communication.
  • Participate in, and positively promote, the Murphy Never Harm Programme.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties expected of you.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with health and safety and any other legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company policies and procedures.
  • Attend and engage fully in any learning and development activities that are deemed appropriate by your apprenticeship.
  • Participate and engage fully in company appraisal/performance review processes and constantly work to improve your individual, your team and the wider group’s performance.
  • Assist in measuring , marking, cutting and tacking steel materials,
  • Engage in safe workshop practices including marking out, drilling, tapping, riveting,
  • Work with a variety of specialized hand and power tools,
  • Adhere to safe systems of work and company policies and procedures,
  • To attend college regularly and at the specified times to enable completion of the apprenticeship
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings is a bonus.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Past engineering experience is a bonus.
  • Leaving or Junior Cert Engineering, Tech Drawing (DCG), Woodwork and/or Physics is a bonus.
  • No experience required (training provided).
  • Leaving Certificate must be completed.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings is a bonus

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum SOLAS entry requirements essential
  • Current SOLAS safe pass card
  • Current Manual handling certificate
  • Full drivers licence an advantage.
  • Hard Working
  • A positive attitude and good attention to detail a must.
  • Ability to learn and take constructive criticism.
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Honesty and integrity
