Murphy is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician support our expanding Water & Wastewater portfolio, delivering full design‑to‑operation solutions for Uisce Éireann, Northern Ireland Water and other key clients, underpinned by our commitment to delivering safely, responsibly and to the highest standards.

 

The position is based at Tipperary Town WWTP, Bansha Road, Tipperary Town. The successful candidate will work within the laboratory, conducting analyses on a variety of samples collected from twelve wastewater treatment sites throughout Tipperary. A full driving licence and access to personal transport are required.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct routine and specialized tests on samples of wastewater, various plant streams, and final plant effluent.
  • Collect samples from multiple locations across South Tipperary; personal vehicle is necessary.
  • Provide process analysis regarding plant operations
  • Perform tests such as Suspended Solids, Biochemical Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Total Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus, Ammonia, Orthophosphate, Alkalinity, pH, among others.
  • Report findings and activities to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring proper upkeep of all instrumentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to ethical conduct, SHESQ and quality assurance.
  • There may be an opportunity to work from alternative locations within the county

 

Who we are looking for:

  • Diploma / degree qualification is desirable)
  • Knowledge of laboratory work is desirable. All training will be received on the job.
  • Experience within the Water / Wastewater industry a distinct advantage
  • Motivated, self-starter with excellent communications skill
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines (civil, electrical, process, etc.) and provide technical and commercial guidance in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving technical issues and managing project changes.
  • Full, clean driving licence
