Murphy is recruiting a Communications Assistant/ Communications Intern to work with our Communications Manager to support internal and external communications.

 

Main Purpose of the Role

  • The Communications Assistant / Communications Intern will support internal and external communications for the organisation’s Ireland business. This paid internship provides practical experience in communications, content creation, digital engagement, and cross‑territory collaboration.
  • The role supports the Communications Manager and includes administrative support duties. The intern will also collaborate with Group Communications teams across territories to ensure consistent messaging and assist in cross‑border projects.
  • This internship is suitable for placement/final‑year students, recent graduates, or individuals returning to the workforce. There is potential for the role to grow beyond the initial internship period depending on performance and business needs.

 

Role Duties

  • Draft, edit, and proofread internal communications including newsletters, staff updates, intranet content, and campaign messaging.
  • Assist with external communications such as press releases, website copy, social media posts, and case studies.
  • Support management of social media channels in line with guidelines, including scheduling and analytics.
  • Collaborate with teams across regions on shared campaigns and messaging alignment.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating internal campaigns, events, and engagement initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to the Communications Manager including scheduling, preparing documents, and maintaining shared content libraries.
  • Conduct media monitoring and assist with regular reporting.

 

Qualifications & Skills– Essential

  • Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; Excel beneficial).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with local and international teams.
  • Strong interest in communications, media, marketing, or related fields.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.

 

Qualifications & Skills – Desirable

  • Experience using social media in a professional or academic context.
  • Multimedia skills.
  • Familiarity with intranet tools.
  • Knowledge of the Irish media landscape.
  • Experience working in a multi‑territory or international environment.
