Murphy is seeking a motivated and technically minded Geospatial Solutions Consultant to support the delivery and growth of our surveying and geospatial services across major infrastructure projects throughout the UK from our Hemel Hempstead or London office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a survey professional looking to transition from operational delivery into a more consultative, technical and commercially focused role.
Working closely with Murphy project teams and operational survey teams, you will help define project requirements, develop survey solutions, prepare scopes of work and quotations, and support the successful delivery of geospatial services.
You will contribute to a wide range of surveying disciplines including engineering surveying, site control, topographical surveys, utility mapping, laser scanning, UAV surveys, monitoring, tunnelling, bathymetric surveys, earthworks and machine control.
This role offers exposure to all aspects of project development, from initial enquiry through to delivery, providing an excellent platform for future progression within Murphy.
A day in the life of a Murphy Geospatial Consultant:
- Engage with project teams to understand survey and geospatial requirements.
- Assist in developing practical, safe and commercially effective survey solutions.
- Prepare scopes of work, technical proposals and fee estimates.
- Support the preparation of quotations for geospatial services.
- Provide technical advice on survey methodologies and deliverables.
- Support tender and pre-construction activities.
- Liaise with operational survey teams to ensure accurate project scoping and successful delivery.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for innovative technologies and improved survey workflows.
- Support the growth of MAE Geomatics through opportunity identification and solution development.
- Build strong working relationships with project stakeholders and internal customers.
- Maintain awareness of industry best practice, emerging technologies and survey standards.

- HND, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience within the surveying, geomatics or geospatial industry.
- Broad knowledge of geospatial surveying technologies, methodologies and deliverables, including Engineering Surveying, Site Control, Topographical Surveying, Utility Mapping (PAS128), Laser Scanning,
- Monitoring, UAV Surveying, Machine Control, Bathymetric Surveying, GIS and Tunnelling.
- Ability to assess project requirements and contribute to the development of practical, safe and commercially effective survey solutions.
- Experience preparing or supporting the preparation of scopes of work, estimates, quotations or technical proposals.
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with project teams and clients.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing consultancy and business development skills.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Highly proficient in written and spoken English.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Chartered status (MRICS, MCInstCES or equivalent) or working towards professional chartership.
- Experience working on major infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Digital Engineering and BIM workflows.
- Experience within rail, energy, water, transportation or heavy civil engineering sectors.
- Experience supporting tendering, estimating or business development activities.
