Main Purpose of Role:

Owing to continued growth in our Energy & Power Division, Murphy have a requirement for a Junior – Mid Level Electrical Estimator who will be responsible for assisting with commercial functions related to work winning. Typical projects worked on will include HV substations, solar farms, underground and overhead cable routes, gas pipelines and associated infrastructure (AGIs and compressor stations)

 

Role Duties:

  • Assist in preparing detailed electrical cost estimates and tender documentation in conjunction with the work winning team.
  • Review tender drawings and documents to determine the scope of works and tender deliverables.
  • Attend tender start-up and adjudication meetings and make site visits as required.
  • Produce enquiry schedules for suppliers and subcontractors required from the tender documentation, drawings and specifications issued.
  • Support senior estimator in analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Maintain and update estimating templates, cost databases and tracking systems.
  • Attend Tender Handover meetings in the presence of Estimators and projects team.
  • Assist with ad-hoc commercial tasks and reporting as required.

 

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying / Engineering / Construction Management or Similar.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in similar roles.
  • Capable of working on his/her own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Able to work accurately and efficiently while managing time to meet critical deadlines.
  • Previous experience on electrical projects would also be beneficial but not essential.
  • Electrical estimating experience.
  • Good ability to read drawings and specifications.
