Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Tender Planner/ Sector Head to work within the Transportation Business Unit on the Peel Ports Framework, overseeing a major programme of construction works across Peel Port sites. Location - can be based in any Murphy office - National.
The scope of which includes drainage; the construction and maintenance of new and existing roads and carparks; earthworks and ground remediation; foundations and piling; the construction, maintenance and refurbishment of new and existing warehouses; paving, surfacing and concrete works; rail construction; bridge construction and refurbishment; and demolition.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Tender Planner / Sector Head
- Manage the pre-construction stage of project planning contributing positively to winning new work for business, supporting and contributing to the tender quality submission with written responses to
- Manage the planning process and collaborate across disciplines to develop and revise the civil delivery programme, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of intended delivery strategy, dependencies, risks and progress.
- Provide planning support to the Preconstruction team ensuring all programme, logistics and delivery aspects are compliant with relevant legislation, tender brief, and contract requirement
- Engage with the Planning Manager, Construction Director/Manager to discuss options and methodology, providing a link to communicate planning community information between all parties
- Analyse Tender documents and identify required planning responses
- Investigate and recommend alternative and innovative solutions with change impact assessment
- Contribute to the risk register, undertake schedule risk analysis and recommend mitigation
- Engage with the supply chain to verify programme issues.
- Define methods and establish competitive outputs, in consultation with the estimator and other team members, including the supply chain in appropriate circumstances
- Support 4D digital aspects of tender evaluation and submission
- Provide a planning handover pack for the delivery team

- Experience and good commercial knowledge of the sector - Work Winning, Highways, Ports, Rail Civils, Buildings
- Contractual awareness - NEC4 and use of planning software (P6, Microsoft Project )
- A clear understanding of the commercial and contractual interfaces within the planning function.
- Understanding and demonstrable skills in the use of Asta Programme software
- Planning skills and ability to prioritise tasks and monitors progress against plan, making alterations where necessary
- Ideally some 4D planning experience
