Murphy is recruiting for a Design Coordinator to work with Natural Resources Based out of Stone Cross ( Wigan - WA3 3JD) with travel to sites across the North East England and Central belt of Scotland .

We maintain, operate, modify, design, construct and commission new energy networks and facilities across four countries; guiding our customers through the challenges of the energy transition and supporting their commitments to achieve net zero emissions. We provide safe and reliable specialist services as a trusted Engineering, Procure, Fabrication, Maintain and Decommissioning (EPFCM&D) partner. This includes work with onshore and offshore oil, gas pipelines, gas diversions and renewable energies.

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Coordinator

  • Assist the Design Manager to deliver high quality designs to budget and programme
  • Prepare briefs/remits for design packages and for site investigation and survey packages
  • Strike up good working relationships with external and internal design and construction teams to deliver integrated designs which are buildable and maintainable
  • Review submissions as directed for quality and compliance with design standards
  • Update design trackers on an ongoing basis
  • Produce minutes and schedules for Design Review Meetings
  • Assist the wider engineering team members as required with engineering input
  • Able to communicate engineering ideas through sketching and drawing by hand and using CAD software
  • Co-ordination / management abilities to deal with several small projects or large multi-disciplined projects
  • Engineering design capability as pre-requisite for submission review and checking.
  • Experience in management against schedules, and budgets.

  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office and other design-based software
  • HND or Engineering Degree qualified
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel.
  • Member of a recognised engineering institution. Incorporated Engineer or Chartered and or working towards membership is desirable
