Owing to continued growth in our Energy & Power Division, Murphy have a requirement for a Mechanical & Electrical Estimator who will be responsible for all commercial functions related to work winning. Typical projects worked on will include site investigations for new gas pipelines, installation of new gas pipelines and associated infrastructure (AGI upgrades, new AGI’s and compressor stations).
What you will be doing:
- Prepare accurate estimates in conjunction with the work winning team
- Review tender drawings and documents to determine the scope of works and tender deliverables
- Attend tender start-up, mid bid and adjudication meetings and make site visits as required.
- Prepare BOQs for scopes of projects
- Produce enquiry schedules for suppliers and subcontractors required from the tender documentation, drawings and specifications issued.
- Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enter correspondence with suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements.
- Input to project risk register and attends a project risk meeting in the presence of Estimators, Planning Engineers, Design Co-ordinators and Clients representatives.
- Ensure correct use of contract Schedule of Rates where required.
- Attend post tender negotiations with client.
- Attend Tender Handover meetings in the presence of Estimators and projects team.
- Prepare commercial documents for tender handover to projects team.
- Maintain and update estimating templates, cost databases and tracking systems.
- Input into internal and client reports.
- Maintain good working relations with client, together with our supply chain.
Who we are looking for:
- Degree qualified Quantity Surveyor or Engineer
- Proven estimating experience - minimum 3 years’ experience in similar roles
- Previous exposure to gas, energy and power projects an advantage
- Previous experience on civil and structural works is essential
- Experience with CCS Candy would be an advantage
- First Principles estimating experience
- Good communication skills
