Main Purpose of Role:
Murphy are hiring an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing team delivering renewable energy and HV/MV substation and cables projects across Ireland. Murphy focus on recruiting and retaining our employees so that the company can continue to develop and succeed within the industry. Never Harm
- Develop knowledge in planning, managing and delivering works in a safe, controlled and environmentally sustainable manner.
- Ensure a strong culture for Never Harm is present on the project; actively promote engagement with the CDP programme.
- Ensure risk assessments are created, in place and reviewed regularly.
- Carry out all work in accordance with health and safety and any other legal requirements
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Design HV/MV substations and control/protection systems
- Produce drawings: SLDs, layouts, schematics
- Detailed design covering all aspects of High & Low voltage equipment and control and protection systems
- Preparation and interpretation of technical specifications and enquiry documentation
- Ensure compliance with design standards and client requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Complying with specific project safety requirements
- Assist with the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue.
- Monitor progress against the program and issue progress reports.
- Prepare method statements and risk assessments.
- Accurate setting out of the works and dimensional control.
- Resolving technical problems at all levels.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 1+ years’ experience working as an Electrical Engineer (desirable)
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD
- Good technical capabilities, teamwork abilities and initiative.
- Strong written, oral and numeracy skills
