Murphy is recruiting for a Senior SHES Manager (MIMS/ IMS)  to work across the group, can be based at either Cannock, Ollerton or London.

To lead the governance, development and continuous improvement of the Murphy Integrated Management System (MIMS), ensuring it is compliant, user-focused, and embedded across the business to support safe, efficient and standardised delivery.

 

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior SHES Manager (MIMS/ IMS)

  • Read the governance and development of the Murphy Integrated Management System (MIMS), ensuring it remains aligned to business needs, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee document control processes, ensuring all MIMS content is current, approved, version controlled, and compliant with document control requirements
  • Lead the management of review cycles, ensuring policies, procedures and standards are reviewed and updated within defined timeframes
  • Lead process development and process mapping activities across the business to ensure consistency and standardisation
  • Ensure MIMS supports and evidences compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and other applicable standards
  • Support ISO certification and surveillance audits, including preparation, coordination, and follow-up actions
  • Provide subject matter expertise during internal and external audits, including SPARs, SHES audits and third-party assessments
  • Act as the central point of contact for MIMS across the business, providing expert advice and guidance to functional leads, projects, and country teams
  • Facilitate review and advisory meetings with stakeholders to support process development, updates, and implementation
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, SHES, and functional teams to embed MIMS into operational delivery
  • Lead communications relating to MIMS updates, changes and improvements
  • Drive user engagement and adoption of MIMS across the business, promoting consistent and effective use
  • Gather and act on user feedback to inform system improvements and prioritisation of enhancements
  • Lead and coordinate MIMS-related activities across the SHES Centre, ensuring clear ownership, prioritisation and delivery of tasks
  • Monitor performance of MIMS processes, including document review compliance, system usage, and audit findings
  • Advise and support Managers and Supervisors to discharge their responsibilities for the SHES of employees and others to whom they have a duty as defined by Legislation and 
  • Ensure that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.
  • Support management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the SHES Plans.
  • Carry out regular inspections/audits of sites and workplaces (if required to) in order to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and the relevant Statutory Provisions.
  • Assist with accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences.
  • Collate Business / Contract SHES statistics in a timely manner and submit to the SHES Management & SHES function for reporting purposes.
  • Review SHES information to identify trends and areas for improvement.  Develop and implement SHES campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the SHES Management.
  • Identify significant SHES issues for contracts / yards and help set-up contracts / yards to include appropriate controls.
  • Provide reports, presentations and information as directed by the Business / SHES Management.
  • Undertake SHES audits as required.
  • Providing input into pre-qualification, tender and SHES award submissions.
  • Stopping work with the agreement of the SHES / Site / Project Management at any time SHES management of the works is in question.
  • Disseminate information issued by the SHES function to relevant employees.

  • Internal auditor training or Lead Auditor Training for all/either of the following standards: ISO 9001, 14001 and/or 45001    
  • Must have a solid understanding of the requirements of the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards.
  • NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate
  • Experience in a Management System Role (managerial level)        
  • In depth SharePoint user & build knowledge    
  • Strong data skills: validation, cleansing, dashboard/report building (Excel/Power BI).    
  • Experience with Power BI or similar for automated reporting and KPI dashboards.
  • Confident communicator and trainer—able to support site teams and office users.    N/A
  • In depth Microsoft package knowledge (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
