Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Planner to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with Severn Trent Water, as part of the AMP8 programme.
Murphy is a long-standing delivery partner to leading water clients across the UK and Ireland, including Thames Water, Severn Trent, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, SES Water, Bristol Water, South East Water, and Uisce Éireann, where we operate over 25 facilities under full DBOM contracts.
A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Planner
- Undertake the bid planning role in accordance with the business’ procedures and processes and the requirements of the contract.
- Ensure that integrated, whole life programmes are prepared from first principles
- Contribute the required written submission material.
- Attend the bid review meeting to contribute a clear view of the work scope and the intentions for delivering it by reference to prepared material.
- Attending the handover meeting to contribute a clear view of the work scope and the intentions for delivering it by reference to prepared material and further defined tasks.
- In consultation with Estimator, advise project team of required feedback reports
- Coach and mentor planning staff and contribute to their professional development.
- Ensure that the scheduling of programmes is appropriate, contract / procedurally compliant, robust, and obtainable.
- Undertake and participate in programme risk workshops using tools such as QSRA.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with the Client and other project stakeholders.
- Managing Compensation events from Subcontractors and to Client

- Experienced planner who has worked on a civils major project previously for a contractor.
- Ideal background in a site role (Engineering, planning, management) for a Tier 1 contractor
- NEC contract experience essential
- Programme management of consultants, stakeholder, and approval processes
- Providing project progress reports to team and leading the compilation of upstream client reporting
- Use of planning software (P6, TILOS, QSRA)
- Experience within Civil Engineering / Construction preferably within Water but not essential
