Murphy is recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Steel Erecting team, based out of our Warrington office.

 

As a Project Manager (Steel), you will lead and successfully deliver projects or significant work packages within larger programmes, ensuring safe execution, on-time delivery, exceptional quality, compliance with acceptance criteria, and the achievement of targeted commercial outcomes.


This is a site-based role, and the successful candidate must be willing and able to work away from home as required by project locations.

A Day in the life of a Murphy Project Manager (Steel Erecting):

Essential
•    Appropriate safety training and qualification for the nature of the works (e.g. IOSHH, PTS).
•    Experience in the project management of an engineering project.
•    Technical knowledge appropriate to the nature of works.
•    Awareness of the administration of construction contracts.
•    Client and stakeholder management.
•    Management of a project team.
•    Experience in developing and maintaining forecasts and budgets.
•    Awareness of the use and interpretation of project controls to review the status of a project.
•    Working knowledge of planning & programming.
•    Strong written, oral and numeracy skills.
•    HNC / HND or NVQ Level 5 (or Degree).
•    Commercial and contractual awareness.

Preferred
•    Professionally qualified or working towards.
•    Degree qualified.

Specialism specific (preferred)
•    SMSTS
•    Engineering knowledge 
•    TW background

  • Experience in Construction or Civil Engineering projects.
  • Experience within RAMs & Temporary Works.
  • Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Ability and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplines.
  • Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and the capacity to identify critical needs and concerns in project delivery to ensure the project is delivered on time and budget.
